We know, it’s tempting to throw your bikini in the wash and call it a day. But if you want your swimwear to stay vibrant, supportive, and last summer after summer, a little extra care goes a long way. All our pieces have heatpress labels in, with general care instructions, however we strongly recommend reading the below to get the best life out of your swimwear.
Our pieces are made with premium, regenerated Italian fabric, soft yet structured, durable yet delicate. To keep them in top condition, here’s how to care for your Zigi properly:
1. Rinse ASAP
Always rinse your swimwear with cool water straight after swimming, especially if you’ve been in chlorinated pools or saltwater. This helps remove chemicals, oils, and sunscreen before they start to break down the fabric.
2. Hand Wash Only (We Really Mean It)
While our care label says you can machine wash at 40°C, we strongly recommend hand washing in cool water instead. Machine washing, even on gentle cycles, can damage the fibres, reduce elasticity, and fade colours faster.
-
Use a small amount of non-bio detergent or a specialist delicates wash.
-
Gently swish — don’t scrub.
-
Top tip: Never leave your swimwear to soak for long periods, it can stretch out the fabric and damage the shape.
3. Avoid Wringing
Once washed, don’t twist or wring out your bikini (we know it’s tempting). Instead, gently press out excess water using a clean towel. Wringing can warp the shape and put stress on the seams.
4. Air Dry (No Heat, Please)
Lay your swimwear flat on a towel to dry, ideally in the shade. Direct sunlight can fade vibrant colours and weaken elasticity over time.
Important:
-
Never tumble dry
-
Never dry on a radiator
-
Avoid hanging your swimwear by the straps (this can stretch them out)
5. Wash Colours Separately
To keep everything looking fresh and avoid unwanted dye transfer, always wash dark and light colours separately.
6. Ironing? Only If You Absolutely Must
Our label technically allows for ironing on low heat, but we advise against it unless it’s a last resort. If you do iron, place a cloth between the iron and the swimwear and use the lowest possible heat setting.
In Short…
Zigi Swim was made to last, with love, thought, and high-quality materials. Treat your pieces with care, and they’ll return the favour: keeping you supported, confident, and looking insane summer after summer.
